The lodge is one street west of main, between 21st and 23rd on Pratt Street. We'll be in the north hall. Folks who arrive early will need to enter at the main entrance, take the 2nd left, off the lobby, enter the middle hall and continue north to the north hall. The front door is a key card door but there is a button for the bar tenders to open the door. Those that arrive early can prop the door open on east side of the north hall so folks can park on the east side of the building and enter through that door.

TRR Trivia – January 2019

After we took a hiatus from trivia in November, Adam M made up for it last month. Adam’s initial statement that there were five questions was met with a few groans but once his intent became obvious, his presentation was very well received.

Questions:
1. What does the 4H on the transfer case shifter stand for?
a. For Highway
b. For Hills
c. For Hard Stuff
d. Four High

2. What state or district has the Trailridge Runners 4WD Club not four wheeled in?
a. Colorado
b. Utah
c. Wyoming
d. Washington DC

3. What did the Toyota Company manufacture in its beginning?
a. Zero fighter plane engines
b. Industrial conveyer systems
c. Automobiles
d. Industrial looms
Until the mid-1930's, Toyota, owned by the Toyoda family, was known as the Toyota Automatic Loom Works, and made industrial looms for the weaving of textiles. Cloth basically.

4. What did the creator of the Jeep manufacture in its beginning?
a. Farm tractors
b. Mining equipment
c. Pie tins
d. Automobiles
Autos. (American Bantam Car Company)

5. In a JK with a 3.8L V6, use the rolling resistance equation, Fr = cl (m * ag)/r to determine the best tire dimension to drive up a sandstone obstacle of 30 degrees.
where:
Fr = rolling resistance in lbs. force on level ground
cl = coefficient of rolling resistance (0.03)
m = mass of vehicle in lbs. (4,000 lbs.)
ag = acceleration of gravity (32.174 ft/s2)
r = radius of the tire in inches
Note: At 30 degrees the force will increase by approximately 14%.

a. 32x10.50
b. 33x12.50
c. 37x12.50
d. who cares, we’re four wheeling

All answers are d.

Extra Credit (for one point): Draw a picture of your jeep. For one more point, draw a picture of you in your jeep.

Adam presented his questions quickly and even gave a couple of hints, enabling even those who have struggled with the trivia questions to earn 7 points. In doing so, Adam courageously “took one for the team”, knocking himself out of the points contention. Everyone who participated received at least 4 points; some got all the answers correct but chose not to be artists and therefore only earned 5 points. But this was clearly a “points for participation” set of questions.

The following people received 7 points each: Vic W, Richard H, Greg B, Paula K, Kevin B, Erin B, Steve E, James H, Mike C, Mike M, Laddie H, Christy H, Gordon H, Desiree T (guest?), and one other whose name I couldn’t read, possibly Chuck T? (also a guest?).

The following people received 6 points each: Allen P (honorable mention for the Jeep pic but he didn’t include himself in the drawing), and John G (only one incorrect answer).

The following people received 5 points each: Wanda C, Ray C, Karen L, Roger B, and Larry M. Don L received 4 points. However, the mediator made an executive decision to award Ray C an extra point for the most unique picture, shown below, which gave him 6 points for the night.

And we have a wrap on 2018 with the point totals as follows:
17 - Gordy H and Vic W tied for first place
16 - Paula K, Mike M
15 - Greg B
14 – James H
13 – Richard H
12 – Allen P, Laddie H, Mike C
11 – Steve E
10 – Larry M
9 – Erin B, Gary B
8 – Christy H
7 or less – Adam M, Desiree T, Chuck (?) T, John G, Kevin B, Wanda C, Don L, Jim C, Karen L, Ray C, Debbie T, Karla H, Linda T, Brian G, Linda G, CarolAnn S, Christine Br, Dave L, James A, Quinton, Rob B, Roger B, Brian M, Chris Bo

Stay tuned for more exciting trivia in 2019, as we reset the points to 0 for everyone. This month’s trivia question will be brought to you by a surprise person (we don’t yet know, as of press time.)
